Well our annual trip to St. Louis was shy about 5 people this year. Mom, dad, Daron, Nicole and Kaylie all stayed behind. :( Made for a lot different of a trip that is for sure. We kept telling Dekan he was going to the ballgame and on the way up there he asked only once where Kaylie was and kept telling everyone that he was going to the ballgame :) We got into St. Louis and, of course, the Arch always makes me get excited so he then started saying, "Mommy! Daddy! Thank you soooo much!!!" It was so cute. He hadnt even seen the ballpark yet :) He didnt remember anything of course from the last 2 years he has been.
We walked down to the Arch for a minute and saw how high the water had gotten. The bottom walkway is completely covered. They had old john boats out to carry people to the casinos that were still open. Some were closed down with big signs on them. Had to get a picture of Dekan on daddy's shoulders with the Arch in the background. I still have a picture of Amanda and I on our daddy's shoulders walking down through there.
Made it to the ballpark and went in for batting practice. Dekan's room is decorated with St. Louis and is coming together nicely with the autographs and memorabilia. Daron and Nicole has given him a World Series Ball that Adam Wainwright signed and this year they gave him a baseball with Stan Musial's autograph. He has his first baseball outfit that he wore to his first game that we took back the following night and Chris Carpenter signed it for him. He got a baseball last year given to him by a relief pitcher on the other team and this year Ron Villone gave him a baseball. Not to mention Lindy McDaniel gave him a stats card with his autograph and the old Mickey Mantle stamp that he has. (Pretty good for a 2 year old huh) :) Still need some baseball cards I guess.
The game was a great game. Pujols hit #300 (and yes that is the swing that did it), but unfortunately it wasnt enough to seal the deal...those Cubbies won it. We had amazing seats this year. Six rows up behind the Cardinals dugout. I have never set that close before. Dekan to be so excited about the game passed out after the 2nd inning and woke up about the 7th. :) We did the Build-a-Bear (Fredbird) with him only to find out that he was scared of Fredbird :) He stuffed him, but wouldnt touch him! Oh well, he is on the shelf anyhow.
Next year hopefully part of the family will be done traveling the world and ready to come back to little old St. Louis for a good game :) Wasnt the same without you guys. We love you! :)
and for the rest of you that read this post.....still booooooo Cubs ;)
